Over the years, the China Civil and Commercial Law Practice Forum held by the Civil Professional Committee of the All China Lawyers Association (hereinafter referred to as the “CPC”) has become a well-known event in the industry and is of great influence.

Many Sino lawyers are members of CPC. Of them, lawyer Zhang Qing serves as the director of the committee, lawyer Guo Zhenzhong the consultant, lawyer Liu Ning the member, and lawyer Fang Bin the deputy secretary-general.

From December 26 to 27, 2020, the 22nd China Civil and Commercial Law Practice Forum was held in Changsha. Director Zhang Qing delivered an opening speech at the event.

Consultant Guo Zhenzhong presided over the closing ceremony.

This theme of the forum focused on legal changes and opportunities in the era of the Civil Code and discussed the impact of the promulgation and implementation of the Civil Code on the current judicial interpretations and adjudication rules, and on the lawyers' practices. The experts and members of the committee exchanged opinions on the legal reform, as well as looked into the industry opportunities and challenges brought about by the implementation of the Civil Code.

During the event, Judge Du Wanhua, former deputy ministerial full-time member of the Judicial Committee of the Supreme People's Court, delivered a keynote speech entitled "The Impact of the Implementation of Civil Code on Judgment Rules and Judgment Concepts".

The forum has two sub-forums. The topics discussed on the sub-forum of "Legal Reform in the Age of Civil Code" include:

Reflections on the relevant provisions on pledge rights in the Property Rights Section of the Civil Code;

The legal application of "contract purpose" in the Contract Section of the Civil Code;

Business development for lawyers in the Civil Code era;

Thoughts on the changes in the provisions on guarantee contracts in the Civil Code;

Legal research on the legal issues of tort after the implementation of the "Civil Code",

The topics discussed by the sub-forum of "Industry Opportunities in the Age of Civil Code" include:

The promotion and protection of investment by the Civil Code;

Civil code and protection of electronic commerce consumer.

The forum was carried out in the "online + offline" form and was divided into several sections: keynote speech, guest sharing, and communications and comments. Over 20,000 people from all over the country, including attorneys, judges, specialists, academics, and news media, attended the event. The number of online participants also reached a record high.

Attorney Liu Ning participated in the forum remotely.

Fang Bin, as the Deputy Secretary-General, provided on-site services for the forum.

During the break of the forum, three lawyers, Zhang Qing, Guo Zhenzhong and Fang Bin, went to Sino’s Changsha branch. They shared their practice experience with colleagues there, including Tang Weiyi and Xie Peng, and listened to their opinions and suggestions on the development of the firm.
